At the age of 15 Edward Zhou performed the Saint Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO). Two years later, he was invited to collaborate again with the VSO, performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1. He has won numerous top prizes in many local, regional and national competitions, such as Kiwanis Festival of Toronto and Performing Arts BC. Edward Zhou also held many musical fundraising concerts. He performed in a relief concert for the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008 which attracted newspaper attention. His charity concert for the BC Children’s Hospital was a huge success and raised over $10,000.

He spent four years at the Glenn Gould School (GGS) in Toronto, seeking the bachelor’s degree while receiving full scholarship under the tutelage of James Anagnoson, the Dean of GGS. He also worked with many acclaimed artists such as Li Wang, John Perry, John O’Connor, Sasha Starcevich, Jamie Parker, and Robert McDonald. His previous teachers include Edward Parker and Ian Parker.

While studying at GGS, Edward was invited to give concerts extensively, from Women’s Art Association (Toronto) to Toronto International Film Festival, from solo performance in Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (Vancouver) to collaborating with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra in Koerner Hall.

As the academic dean of North Surrey Music School, Edward has extensive experience in teaching the RCM curriculum, he works with adults, children and teens and believes in nurturing creativity and developing musicianship. Edward Zhou offers free piano masterclass regularly to share his musical insights and provide artistic inspiration for piano students in preparation for recitals and exams. His students maintain outstanding performance in the festivals, competitions and exams. Edward Zhou is highly in demand, his currently students come from Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, Surrey, and White Rock.

Apart from his musical endeavors, Edward Zhou is a certified lifeguard and trophy winning ice skater. He also loves gardening, wine tasting, and a self proclaimed foodie.
